Château Gombaude Guillot Magnum

Seven hectares on the central plateau of Pomerol, right next to Pétrus and Château Lafleur – Gombaude-Guillot is one of the quiet classics of the appellation that doesn't need much PR.

The winery has been family-owned since 1860 and is one of the region's biodynamic pioneers: organic farming since 1998, Biodyvin certification since 2006. On the clay-rich plateau, a Merlot-dominated wine is produced that combines the typical velvety texture of Pomerol with real structure – not a soft, smooth wine, but a wine with backbone.

In the glass, it displays a dark ruby red. The nose offers aromas of blackberry, plum, and violet, underpinned by notes of damp earth and a hint of cedar. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. The acidity remains in the background, lending the wine freshness without harshness. The finish is long, spicy, and slightly mineral.

The magnum bottle slows down the aging process – ideal if you plan to cellar the wine for several more years. Drinking window: now until 2032+. Serving temperature 16–18 °C, decanting is recommended an hour beforehand.

Château Gombaude-Guillot

Château Gombaude-Guillot lies in the heart of Pomerol – one of France's smallest and most sought-after wine regions. On the heavy, clay-rich soil that makes this appellation so special, Merlot grapes in particular reach their fullest potential: velvety, deep, and with a unique, almost velvety warmth.

The château has been family-owned for generations and stands for artisanal, natural winemaking that emphasizes the unique character of the terroir – rather than striving for a glossy, polished look. The result is wines with genuine character: complex, honest, and crafted with the calm confidence of someone who knows their craft.
