Château Gombaude Guillot Magnum

Seven hectares on the core plateau of Pomerol, right next to Pétrus and Château Lafleur – Gombaude-Guillot is one of the quiet classics of the appellation that does not need big PR.

The winery has been family-owned since 1860 and is one of the biodynamic pioneers of the region: organic cultivation since 1998, Biodyvin certification since 2006. On the clay-rich plateau, a Merlot-dominated wine is created that combines the typical velvetiness of Pomerol with real structure – not a soft flatterer, but a wine with backbone.

In the glass, it shows a dark ruby red. The nose brings blackberry, plum, and violets, underpinned by damp earth and a hint of cedar wood. On the palate, medium to powerful body, fine-grained tannins, the acidity remains in the background and gives the wine freshness without sharpness. The finish is long, spicy, slightly mineral.

The magnum bottle slows down the aging – ideal if you want to store the wine for a few more years. Now until 2032+. Serving temperature 16–18 °C, feel free to decant an hour beforehand.

The Château

Château Gombaude-Guillot

Château Gombaude-Guillot is located in the heart of Pomerol – one of the smallest and most sought-after wine regions in France. On the heavy, clay-rich soil that makes this appellation so special, Merlot in particular grows to its fullest ripeness: velvety, deep, and with a very unique, almost velvety warmth.

The Château has been in family hands for generations and stands for artisanal viticulture that puts the peculiarity of the terroir in the foreground – instead of polishing it to a high gloss. What is created here are wines with real character: complex, honest, and with the calm of someone who knows what they are doing.
