Chateau Ste. Michelle Syrah Columbia Valley

Columbia Valley Syrah seduces with sweet, dark-spiced berry fruit, delicate toasty notes, and a hint of vanilla. Fully ripe grapes, extended barrel aging, and silky tannins lend it a rounded, velvety richness that makes the wine beautifully approachable even now. The grapes were harvested during the warmer hours of the day to trigger rapid fermentation, then crushed and fermented for 7-8 days. Twice daily, the must was pumped over with approximately 80% of the juice to extract maximum color and fruit aromas from the grapes, thus bringing out the juicy, concentrated character of the Syrah. After gentle pressing, the wine aged for 14 months in French and American oak, 20% of which was new.

Blind purchase, based on recommendation. What can I say, incredibly good, soft, pleasant smell, nothing scratches in the throat, velvet berry.
