Winzer Krems Chardonnay Kellermeister Privat

The Chardonnay Kellermeister Privat from Winzer Krems is the cellar master's personal selection — a cuvée that shows what the Krems vineyards have to offer in terms of Chardonnay quality when the best batches are vinified separately.

Winzer Krems is one of Austria's most significant cooperatives, with roots in the Kremstal region along the Danube. The winemakers cultivate vineyards on loess and primary rock — soils that give white wines a characteristic tension between fullness and freshness. The Kremstal is one of the classic white wine regions of Lower Austria, with cool nights that sharpen the aromatics.

In the glass, it reveals a Chardonnay with ripe yellow fruit — mirabelle plum, apple, and a hint of white peach. The acidity is integrated, the mouthfeel round and full-bodied, and the finish clean and persistent. A dry style that has substance without appearing heavy.

Pairs well with creamed spinach with egg, pasta in gorgonzola sauce, or roasted chicken with herbs. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.

The Winery

WINZER KREMS eG

Winzer Krems eG is one of the most well-known wine cooperatives in Lower Austria – rooted in Krems an der Donau, in the middle of one of Austria's most classic white wine regions. Here, where loess and primary rock characterize the soils, Grüner Veltliner grows above all: spicy, crisp, with that typical pepper note that you won't find in any other grape variety in the world.

Cellar master Franz Arndorfer sums it up himself: Good wines can only be made from healthy, ripe grapes – technology can support this, but not replace it. You can feel this credo in the wines. In addition to Grüner Veltliner, Blauer Zweigelt also plays a role – Austria's red character, with cherry aromas and a velvety structure.
