Riesling "Von den Terrassen"

A Riesling from the heart of the Wachau — a clear expression of a region world-renowned for its steep primary rock terraces. Winzer Krems eG, one of Lower Austria's most renowned wine cooperatives, pools the knowledge of over 900 member estates here into a wine that brings the character of the Krems terraces directly into the glass.

The cooperative has existed since 1938 and cultivates around 1,100 hectares along the Danube and Kamp rivers — making Winzer Krems one of Austria's most significant wine producers. The "Von den Terrassen" Riesling comes from steep slopes on weathered primary rock soils, which give the wine its characteristic minerality.

In the glass, it shows fresh aromas of white peach and citrus zest, accompanied by a fine hint of stone fruit and a clearly defined acidity structure that keeps the wine lively. The finish is long, salty-mineral — a typical feature of well-situated Riesling terraces on the Danube.

Served at 10–12 °C, it pairs well with zander on a bed of vegetables, pan-fried char with herb butter, or fresh goat cheese. It also makes an excellent, uncomplicated companion to asparagus or Asian-spiced fish.

WINZER KREMS eG

Winzer Krems eG is one of the most well-known wine cooperatives in Lower Austria – rooted in Krems an der Donau, in the middle of one of Austria's most classic white wine regions. Here, where loess and primary rock characterize the soils, Grüner Veltliner grows above all: spicy, crisp, with that typical pepper note that you won't find in any other grape variety in the world.

Cellar master Franz Arndorfer sums it up himself: Good wines can only be made from healthy, ripe grapes – technology can support this, but not replace it. You can feel this credo in the wines. In addition to Grüner Veltliner, Blauer Zweigelt also plays a role – Austria's red character, with cherry aromas and a velvety structure.
