Grüner Veltliner "Kremser Sandgrube"

The Kremser Sandgrube is a Grüner Veltliner that could not be more typical of Lower Austria: fresh, spicy, with the characteristic note of white pepper that distinguishes this grape variety from all others.

Winzer Krems is one of Austria's most important wine cooperatives, founded in 1938 on the Danube in the Kremstal region, which neighbors the Wachau. The Kremser Sandgrube is one of the winery's most famous vineyard sites—a loess soil with a sandy subsoil that gives the Grüner Veltliner lightness and a fine mineral vein. The cooperative brings together around 900 winegrowing families and cultivates over 1,100 hectares of vineyards along the Danube.

In the glass, it shows a clear straw yellow. On the nose, white pepper, green apple, and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate, it is lean and lively, with a crisp acidity structure and the typical spicy finish that gives the Grüner Veltliner its unmistakable character.

Good with Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus dishes, goat cheese, or grilled vegetables. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
