Blauer Zweigelt CLASSIC

The Blauer Zweigelt Classic from Winzer Krems shows what has made the Krems cooperative so reliable for decades: a clear varietal signature without detours. Zweigelt is Austria's most widely grown red wine variety — and in the hands of the Krems winemakers, it becomes an uncomplicated, easy-drinking red with real character.

Winzer Krems is one of the most important wine cooperatives in the Wachau area, founded in 1938 and today covering around 900 hectares of vineyards in the Kremstal DAC region. The cool sites along the Danube, characterized by loess and primary rock, give the wines a fresh basic structure that also benefits the Zweigelt.

In the glass, it shows the typical varietal aromas of sour cherry and blackberry, plus a hint of violets and a light spice on the finish. The tannins are soft, the acidity is lively without being sharp — a red wine that opens up without needing much convincing.

Best served at 16–18 °C. It goes well with Wiener Schnitzel with cucumber-dill salad, grilled bratwurst, or a hearty lentil stew. It also does a great job as an uncomplicated companion for an evening with friends.
