Ànima Negra began with the friendship of two Mallorcans: Pere Ignasi Obrador and Miquel Angel Cerda, both from the town of Felanitx in southeastern Mallorca. They have been friends since childhood. In 1994, Pere and Miquel decided to realize a long-held dream and vinify their first own grapes. This marked the beginning of a unique success story; in just a few years, Ànima Negra wines achieved cult status in Mallorca! Today, it seems everyone—Mallorcan, resident, or tourist—knows the Ànima Negra winery, and it feels as if ÀN belongs to the island as much as the cathedral belongs to Palma and the port to Andratx. And not only on the Balearic island, but in more than 45 countries, the name Ànima Negra (meaning "black soul") is synonymous with quality and a strong, distinctive Callet character. The Anima Negra "AN" matures for 17-19 months in new French oak barrels and is similar in character to a Brunello. A brilliant cherry red with garnet highlights, it enchants the nose with a complex bouquet of roasted caraway seeds, tobacco, and black pepper, paired with aromas of dark fruit. How does the Anima Negra AN taste?
Dry and full of character: dark fruits, toasted caraway, tobacco, and black pepper. The 17–19 months in new French barrels give it depth and a certain austerity that is reminiscent of a Brunello.
What does the AN pair best with?
With hearty dishes: leg of lamb, roast game, braised beef cheeks. It also works well with grilled meat, chorizo, or a mature Manchego — the Callet character needs some substance on the plate.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Best at 16–18 °C. Served too warm, it loses its freshness; served too cold, the tannin and wood feel harsh. If it is stored in the cellar, 20–30 minutes at room temperature is sufficient.
Is this a Mallorcan grape variety?
Callet is an autochthonous grape variety of Mallorca that is hardly grown outside the Balearic Islands. Ànima Negra has contributed significantly to its international recognition.
How long can I store it?
Due to the wood aging and tannin structure, it is not a wine that must be drunk immediately — it can easily handle a few years in the cellar. Store cool, dark, and lying down.
Is this a single bottle or is it also available as a case?

The Bodega
Ànima Negra – "black soul" – has been the conscience of Mallorcan wine since 1994. Childhood friends Pere Obrador and Miquel Àngel Cerdà founded the estate near Felanitx in the southeast of the island, on an estate whose walls date back to the 13th century.
Their goal was as simple as it was bold: to produce quality wines exclusively from native varieties, above all the then-forgotten Callet grape. With the breakthrough among international critics in 1997, the winery proved that Mallorca is more than just a holiday idyll – it is one of the most idiosyncratic wine regions of the Mediterranean.
