ÀN/2

ÀN/2
The ÀN/2 from Ànima Negra shows what Mallorca can do in red wine: depth, structure, and Mediterranean warmth in a glass.
Ànima Negra is considered a pioneer of modern Mallorcan red wine. The winery in the southeast of the island, near Felanitx, works with the indigenous grape variety Callet – supplemented by Mantonegro and Fogoneu. The ÀN/2 is the more accessible entry into the range, matures for 12 months in barriques, and combines fruit depth with subtle wood spice.
In the glass, it shows a strong ruby red. On the nose, red cherries and blackberry, plus clay, lavender, and a hint of vanilla from the wood aging. Dense and full-bodied on the palate, velvety tannins, lively acidity structure – not a heavy block, but a wine with grip and length. The finish carries notes of clove and dark chocolate.
Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
Pairs well with: Leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled Ibérico pork, Manchego, or tomato ragout with eggplant.

Ànima Negra – “black soul” – has been the conscience of Mallorcan wine since 1994. Childhood friends Pere Obrador and Miquel Àngel Cerdà founded the estate near Felanitx in the southeast of the island, on a property whose walls date back to the 13th century. Their goal was as simple as it was bold: to produce quality wines exclusively from native grape varieties, above all the then-forgotten Callet grape. With their breakthrough with international critics in 1997, the winery proved that Mallorca is more than just a holiday paradise – it is one of the most distinctive wine regions in the Mediterranean.
