Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG - Casalpietra 0.75L

An Amarone that showcases the classic strength of the Valpantena: concentrated, complex, with the unmistakable depth that the appassimento method brings to the bottle.

The Ottella winery is located in the Valpolicella Valpantena, one of the higher-altitude sub-regions at around 400 meters. The marly, lime-rich soils from the Dolomite rock give the Corvina Veronese a mineral tension that runs through the entire wine. The 2018 vintage produced ripe, healthy grapes in the Veneto — a good starting point for the elaborate drying process that gives the Amarone its character.

In the glass, the Casalpietra shows dark berry fruit — blackberry, prune — with hints of cocoa, tobacco, and dried herbs. The body is full, the tannins present but not edgy. The finish remains long and warm. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. It unfolds particularly well with air.

Classic pairing: braised beef cheeks, game ragù on pappardelle, or mature Pecorino. If drinking it on its own, give it an hour in a decanter.
