Valpolicella Ripasso DOC - Casalpietra 0.75L

The Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Casalpietra from Ottella is a red wine with substance: The Ripasso method — the second fermentation on the pomace of dried Amarone grapes — gives the wine more body and depth than a classic Valpolicella possesses.

Behind the brand is the Montresor family with their Ottella winery on the southern shore of Lake Garda, one of the most traditional wine-growing regions in Veneto. The cuvée of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella follows the classic profile of the DOC: Corvina provides the aromatic base and structure, while Rondinella adds freshness to the blend.

In the glass, it reveals dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of clove, accompanied by a velvety tannin structure and a pleasantly long finish with a slightly spicy note. The wine has weight without feeling heavy — a typical characteristic of well-made Ripasso wines from Veneto.

Served at 16–18 °C, it pairs well with Brasato al Barolo, pasta with wild boar ragù, or aged Asiago. It also makes a great impression at an evening with a cold cut platter and strong cheese.
