Abtsberg Riesling GG PW Mosel 3.0L

The Abtsberg Riesling GG from Maximin Grünhaus stands for the Grosses Gewächs class on the Mosel: dry, precise, and with plenty of drive. This 3-liter large bottle makes it a wine for the large table.

Maximin Grünhaus is located on the Ruwer, a side valley of the Mosel, and the Abtsberg is one of the estate's most famous sites. Here, a Riesling is created that closely combines fruit and minerality.

Ripe apricot, peach, and yellow apple appear on the nose, along with wet stone, wild herbs, white flowers, as well as fine notes of green tea and woodruff. It feels lean and precise on the palate: ripe fruit, salty minerality, and filigree acidity are in balance. Orange zest, Williams pear, and lemon balm give depth; a ripe salt lemon with a juicy, creamy mouthfeel remains in the finish. Fine grip and plenty of extract carry the long finish.

We recommend it at 8 to 10 °C with fried zander, scallops, veal sweetbreads, or aged mountain cheese. The large bottle is suitable for celebrations where several guests are sitting at the table.

VDP Member Estate

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.

The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
