Abtsberg Riesling Auslese No. 88 Luscious PW Mosel 0.75L
The Abtsberg Riesling Auslese No. 88 from Maximin Grünhaus is a luscious Riesling that pushes the tension between concentrated sweetness and lively Mosel acidity to the limit — precise, profound, with a long aftertaste.
Maximin Grünhaus is one of the historically most significant wineries of the Mosel. The Grünhäuser Abtsberg is a southeast-exposed steep slope with deep Devonian slate — a soil that stores heat, regulates water, and gives the Riesling this characteristic minerality. The Auslese is created from selectively harvested, overripe grapes that reflect the natural concentration of the vintage.
In the glass, the wine glows golden yellow. On the nose, candied apricot, quince, and a hint of honey appear, underpinned by slate minerality and a fine petrol tone, as is typical for aged Mosel Rieslings. On the palate, the concise acidity carries the sweetness effortlessly — no stickiness, no heaviness, instead a play of density and freshness. The finish is long, salty, and characterized by dried mango.
Best served at 8–10 °C. Classic companions: foie gras terrine, blue cheese like Roquefort, or caramelized tarte tatin. Also worth a recommendation as a dessert in a glass on its own.

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.
The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
