Abtsberg Riesling Superior QW Mosel

An off-dry Riesling from the Ruwer that focuses on slate spice and tension. The Abtsberg is considered the most famous site of Maximin Grünhaus.

The site comprises 14 hectares of steep slopes with an incline of up to 75%, facing from southeast to southwest. The most valuable plots of the estate lie in the center of the striking hill. The shallow, skeletal soils of bluish Devonian slate give the wine its mineral character and depth.

The Riesling appears focused in the glass: fruit aromas meet slate spice. It is clearly structured on the palate, the off-dry style carries the acidity, accompanied by plenty of drive and a long finish. As a quality wine of the Superior line, it combines tension with length.

Recommendation: Serve it at 8 to 10 °C with cured salmon, crayfish, poultry in cream sauce, or mildly spiced Asian dishes.

Maximin Grünhaus

VDP Member Estate

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.

The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
