Maximin Grünhaus Pinot Blanc dry
Maximin Grünhaus is one of the most prestigious wineries on the Ruwer – a small tributary of the Moselle, known for its delicate, mineral-driven Rieslings. The estate, with origins dating back to the 10th century, is now owned by the von Schubert family and cultivates the three vineyard sites Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg on weathered Devonian slate.
The Pinot Blanc is a rarity in the range: While Riesling plays the leading role, this Pinot Blanc demonstrates that the cooler Ruwer soil conditions also lend a distinctive character to Burgundian grape varieties. In the glass, aromas of yellow mirabelle plum, white peach, and citrus zest emerge – underpinned by a hint of white blossoms. On the palate, the wine is creamy, with lively acidity that provides freshness and balance.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, pan-fried salmon trout, or mild goat cheese. Drink now – not suitable for long aging, but an uncomplicated everyday wine with a good winery background.
Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.
The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
