Herrenberg Riesling Kabinett PW Mosel 1.5L

A Kabinett with the typical Mosel tension: fresh, herbal, and with fine sweetness carried by the acidity. This magnum (1.5 l) is suitable for larger groups and for anyone who likes to share a Riesling at the table.

The Herrenberg is one of the vineyards of Maximin Grünhaus on the Ruwer, a side valley of the Mosel. The red slate of the soil is noticeably reflected in the wine: it provides a warm spice and a softer, gentler structure than many neighboring Kabinetts. The grapes are fermented spontaneously, which shows as a subtle yeast note on the nose.

On the nose, Granny Smith apple, lime juice, and rhubarb meet yellow flowers like dandelion and sunflower. On the palate, quince jelly and orange are added, accompanied by orange blossoms, sorrel, and a slightly grassy note of nettles. The sweetness remains lean and the acidity keeps the wine lively.

Recommendation: serve well chilled at 8 to 10 °C. It goes with sushi, mild fresh goat cheese, Thai dishes with light spice, or fruit cake with quark.

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.

The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
