Maximin Grünhaus Riesling Schloss Kabinett fruity

A classic Kabinett from the Ruwer region – delicately bitter, light-footed and with the characteristic tension that has distinguished Maximin Grünhaus for generations.

The winery is situated on the Ruwer, a tributary of the Moselle, and is one of the most historically significant estates in German winemaking. The Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg vineyards slope steeply down to the river and are interspersed with blue Devonian slate – a soil that retains heat, imparts minerality, and gives the Riesling its characteristic vibrancy. The estate has been in the von Schubert family since 1882 and is now run by the fourth generation.

In the glass, the Schloss Kabinett displays a pale straw yellow. The nose offers fresh peach fruit, citrus zest, and a subtle slate note. On the palate, it is light, with lively acidity and a delicate residual sweetness that maintains the balance – no stickiness, no cloying sweetness, but a clean, dry finish with a lingering aftertaste.

Serving temperature 8–10 °C. Ideal now or until 2028. Pairs well with mildly spicy Asian dishes, river trout, light poultry, or as an aperitif on warm evenings.

Maximin Grünhaus

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.

The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
