The wine consists of 100% Turbiana, the indigenous grape variety of the Lugana zone. It grows on clay soils south of Lake Garda, and the aging takes place in stainless steel. This keeps the wine clear and fresh. On the nose, there are notes of citrus, green apple, and white flowers. On the palate, it appears lively and harmonious, with a taut, fresh acidity and a fine minerality. The finish carries a subtle bitter almond note, which gives the wine length and a slightly tart final touch. The Mandolara is considered a classic of the estate and shows the style of the region without being complicated.
The quality is confirmed many times over: 93 points from Luca Maroni, 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, and 91 points from Falstaff. It is best served well chilled, at about 8 to 10 °C. This brings out the freshness and fruit clarity most clearly.
Pairs well with: grilled or steamed fish, antipasti with seafood or pickled vegetables, light pasta with lemon and fresh herbs, or a vegetable risotto. Even on its own in the glass, it is an uncomplicated aperitif that immediately delights guests.
