Uruguay is one of the most exciting wine countries in South America, even if it still flies under the radar internationally. The country is located at a similar latitude to Argentina or Chile, but the climate is distinctly Atlantic: cooler sea breezes, variable rainfall, and a very unique character in the glass. The red wines often show substance and structure, the white wines benefit from fresh acidity and liveliness.
Tannat – the soul of Uruguay
No other country has made the Tannat grape variety its own as much as Uruguay. Originally from the southwest of France, it has found a new home here. Uruguayan Tannat is powerful, dark, and tannin-rich – but with the right vinification, also accessible and full of character. Bodega Garzón, the only winery in our Uruguay range, is considered one of the country's leading addresses and works with grapes from the Departamento Maldonado, near the coast.
