Winery In den Zehn Morgen Kreuznacher Grauer Burgunder
A Pinot Gris with substance: spicy, structured, and with a texture you wouldn't expect from a white wine.
The winery In den Zehn Morgen is located in the Nahe, one of the most versatile German wine regions. The soil around Bad Kreuznach alternates between porphyry, slate, and sandstone — a terroir that gives white wines mineral backbone and depth. Pinot Gris thrives here particularly well because the continental climate ensures full ripeness without grinding down the acidity.
In the glass, the wine shows aromas of apple peel, toasted hazelnut, and blond tobacco — plus a hint of herbs and some stoniness in the background. On the palate, the spice dominates, underscored by yellow fruitiness. The texture is fine and slightly grippy, carried by a lively acidity that gives the wine its backbone. Not a heavy block, but a white wine with bite.
- Food pairing: Veal schnitzel, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, aged Gouda, or hearty mushroom dishes
