Winery In den Zehn Morgen Kreuznacher Grauer Burgunder
A Pinot Gris with substance: spicy, structured and with a texture that one would not expect from a white wine.
The In den Zehn Morgen winery is located in the Nahe region , one of Germany's most diverse wine regions. The soil around Bad Kreuznach varies between porphyry, slate, and sandstone—a terroir that gives white wines mineral backbone and depth. Pinot Gris thrives particularly well here because the continental climate ensures full ripening without diminishing the acidity.
In the glass, the wine reveals aromas of apple peel, roasted hazelnut, and blond tobacco —along with a hint of herbs and a touch of minerality in the background. On the palate, spice dominates, underpinned by yellow fruitiness. The texture is fine and slightly grippy, supported by a lively acidity that gives the wine its backbone. Not a heavy, heavy wine, but a white wine with bite.
- Food pairings: Veal schnitzel, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, mature Gouda cheese or hearty mushroom dishes
- Serving temperature: 10–12 °C
- Drinking window: now until 2027
