Vilarnau Cava Brut Reserva Organic "Barcelona"

Color and perlage: pale golden shining straw yellow with persistently rising, finest strings of pearls

Scent: expressive, very fragrant fruit bouquet

Taste: beautifully structured on the palate with a harmonious balance of ripe fruit and lively refreshing acidity

In the vineyards of Vilarnau, the vines enjoy excellent growth and ripening conditions. Protected by the towering Montserrat mountain range, they benefit from the Catalan Mediterranean climate even at an altitude of 250 meters, with warm, sunny days and cool nights, during which the grapes develop lushly concentrated aromas. The water-retaining alluvial soils ensure a continuous supply of nutrients to the vines even in hot and dry phases. Pruning takes place in December. In September of the following year, the grapes are harvested and initially vinified separately according to grape variety. Only for the second fermentation in the bottle are Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel-lo blended into the cuvée and then matured on the bottle for at least 18 months before the Cava is disgorged and sealed for sale.

The Bodega

Caves Vilarnau

The Caves Vilarnau winery was founded in 2005 by the Andalusian group Gonzáles Byass to expand the company's own wine range with high-quality Cava. Salvatore Adducci was hired to design the labels.

Approximately 2 million Cava bottles are produced annually. Caves Vilarnau explicitly promotes wine tourism and offers a wide range of wine events: from Cava tastings to Cava therapies and hikes on foot, by bicycle, or by helicopter/hot air balloon through/over the vineyards, where you can stay in the company's own hotel. In addition, in-house art exhibitions are offered to show a symbiosis between wine and art.
