Saar Riesling QbA dry

Saar Riesling QbA dry
Van Volxem's Saar Riesling is a prime example of what the Saar can do better than almost any other region: combine taut minerality and ripe fruit in one glass without one overpowering the other.
The Van Volxem winery in Wiltingen is one of the leading addresses on the Saar. On slate soils, which give the wine its characteristic rock depth, the vines grow slowly and concentrated under cool conditions.
In the glass, it shows a rich golden yellow. On the nose, ripe stone fruit — apricot, peach — plus orange peel, pineapple, and a hint of lemon zest. Wild herbs in the background. On the palate, intense and powerful, with a crisp, perfectly integrated acidity that keeps the wine lively. The minerality seems almost salty, the finish long and fresh.
- Food: Fried zander, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or mild goat cheese
- Temperature: 10–12 °C
