Van Volxem Riesling Old vines dry

Perfectly ripened small berries from vines up to 120 years old, exceptionally gentle pressing over 7 hours, up to 2 days of maceration, several weeks of spontaneous fermentation by natural wild yeasts in used wooden casks, and extended aging on the fine lees. The pervasive, almost saline minerality creates a tension in this exceptional wine between profound concentration and invigorating freshness. Van Volxem's Riesling Alte Reben impresses with its pervasive, almost saline minerality and creates a tension between profound concentration and invigorating freshness. The Van Volxem winery is located in Wiltingen on the Saar, south of the city of Trier. The history of the winery dates back to the 3rd century and has been owned by Roman Niewodniczanski since 2000. The winery has a total vineyard area of 42 ha, which is divided into nine sites. The best sites include Wiltinger Gottesfuß, Scharzhofberger and Bockstein. The soils consist mainly of Devonian slate.
