The Wheelwright
Henschke is one of Australia's most famous wineries — and The Wheelwright shows why the family has been considered the benchmark in the Eden Valley for generations. The 2021 is a Shiraz with depth and precision that combines power and elegance.
The Henschke winery has been managed by the family for five generations since 1868, today led by Stephen and Prue Henschke. The sites in the Eden Valley and Keyneton are located at over 400 meters altitude — the cooler climate ensures slow ripening and a fine aroma structure.
In the glass, dark carmine red with violet reflections. On the nose, blackberry, blueberry, and violets, plus black pepper, anise, and a hint of cedar wood. Juicy and powerful on the palate, with Satsuma plum and mulberry, a lively herbal spice, and fresh acidity. The tannins are fine-grained and silky-integrated, the finish long, cool, and mineral.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
Pairs with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled beef steak, or mature cheddar.
