Johann's Garden

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the Eden Valley – Johann's Garden by Henschke shows what the Australian highland terroir can achieve in an approachable, easy-drinking cuvée.

Henschke is one of Australia's most prestigious family wineries, rooted in the Eden and Barossa Valleys for over 150 years and now in its fifth generation. The cool climate of the Eden Valley – at an altitude of around 400 meters – results in slower ripening and therefore more structure and freshness than in the hotter Barossa Valley.

In the glass, a brilliant ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose offers fresh plum and rhubarb, underpinned by violets, lavender, and a hint of nutmeg and white pepper. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied: red berries, raspberry, and subtle vanilla, supported by lively acidity. The tannins are fine and supple, the finish long and balanced.

Recommendation: Serve at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with herb-crusted lamb chops, grilled duck breast, or a hearty pot roast. Also a great, uncomplicated choice with a cheese board featuring Cheddar or Manchego. Drinking window: now until 2027.
