Syrah The Guirlandes

A Syrah from the Languedoc that shows what the south of France can do with this grape variety: dark fruit, spicy depth, and a character that doesn't beat around the bush.

Château Fontarèche is located in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon, one of the oldest wine regions in France. The soils here — calcareous, stony, poor — force the vines to go deep. The result is concentrated grapes with a distinct terroir character. The Guirlandes is the estate's Syrah: varietal, vinified dry, with a focus on fruit and structure.

In the glass, it shows a dark ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, blackberry and black olive, accompanied by a typical Syrah interplay of black pepper and smoked meat. On the palate, medium to full body, ripe tannins, an invigorating acid structure, and a long, spicy finish with a hint of lavender — the South of France in a glass.

Pairs well with grilled lamb with herbs de Provence, merguez, ratatouille, or firm sliced cheese. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
