St. Antony Pinot Blanc

St. Antony Pinot Blanc
Pinot Blanc from the Rheingau — one that shows what the grape variety can do when soil, location and craftsmanship come together.
St. Antony cultivates its vineyards in Nierstein—including the renowned single vineyards Ölberg and Hipping—biodynamically. The winery is among the most reliable addresses in the Rheingau for precise, terroir-driven white wines. No artificial effects, no manipulation: the wines should let the soil speak for itself, not the cellar technology. The Pinot Blanc is certified organic and is produced with minimal intervention in the cellar.
In the glass, it displays ripe pear and yellow apple, complemented by a cool herbal note—fennel, a hint of sage—and a fine minerality reminiscent of limestone and chalk. The acidity is firm but well-integrated: not a wine that imposes itself, but one that becomes clearer and more precise with each sip. The body is lean to medium-bodied, the texture slightly creamy without heaviness. The finish is dry, medium-long, with a slightly salty aftertaste.

Do you know what happens when a steel company decides to make wine? That's the story of St. Antony . Founded in 1920 in a former limestone quarry, the winery has catapulted itself into the absolute top tier of Rheinhessen wines.
Here, everything revolves around the legendary Roter Hang (Red Slope ). Rieslings grow on the red slate soil, and they pack a punch: mineral, smoky, and full of power [citation:3]. Organic and biodynamic farming has been practiced here since 2006 [citation:2]. The wines from the Pettenthal, Orbel, and Hipping vineyards are among the best in Germany.
