Riesling Orbel GG

The Orbel vineyard lies at the southern end of the Roter Hang (Red Slope) – not directly on the Rhine, but nestled in a side valley. At night, the valley, which opens to the west, acts like a nozzle: cool air from the surrounding area flows in, significantly lowering the temperatures. The result is a lively, precise acidity that gives this wine its characteristic character.

Fine slate gravel instead of bare rock – that's what distinguishes the Orbel vineyard from its neighbor, Pettenthal. The St. Antony winery, a renowned name for dry Rheinhessen Rieslings for decades, vinifies this vineyard as a Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru): hand-harvested, dry, and designed for aging potential.

Cool and herbaceous on the nose. On the palate, ripe peach notes and a hint of apple emerge, underpinned by herbal aromas and subtle salinity. Firm body, clear structure, piquant finish. Drinking window: 2026–2034. Pairs well with grilled sea bass, sweetbreads, or mature Comté cheese.
