Riesling Brudersberg GG
The Brudersberg vineyard is a monopole site belonging to St. Antony in Nierstein – steep, south-facing, and directly on the Rhine. Not a wine for impatience, but one that rewards patience.
The St. Antony winery is one of the most reliable producers in Rheinhessen. Its Brudersberg vineyard is its heart: fully south-facing, extremely steep, and shaped by the influence of the Rhine. Despite these intense conditions, the wines do not develop an excessive richness – the soil directs the energy towards minerality and structure.
The terroir is immediately apparent in the glass: flint and graphite are the dominant notes, accompanied by white pepper and ripe peach. On the palate, it is precise and eminently drinkable – a clear acidity supports the wine, while a fine touch of tannins (unusual for Riesling) provides structure. Not an opulent style, but rather elegant and compelling.
Drinking window: now until 2032+, with aging potential for patient drinkers. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
- Serve with grilled pike-perch or trout with herb butter
- Served with veal sweetbreads or white asparagus with hollandaise sauce
- With mature Comté or mountain cheese
Do you know what happens when a steel company decides to make wine? That's the story of St. Antony . Founded in 1920 in a former limestone quarry, the winery has catapulted itself into the absolute top tier of Rheinhessen wines.
Here, everything revolves around the legendary Roter Hang (Red Slope ). Rieslings grow on the red slate soil, and they pack a punch: mineral, smoky, and full of power [citation:3]. Organic and biodynamic farming has been practiced here since 2006 [citation:2]. The wines from the Pettenthal, Orbel, and Hipping vineyards are among the best in Germany.
