Siefersheim Heerkretz Riesling GG

Siefersheim Heerkretz Riesling GG
The Heerkretz is one of the best sites in Rheinhessen – and Wagner-Stempel consistently extracts what is inside this porphyry-slate soil: a Riesling GG with real depth.
The winery in small Siefersheim, southwest of Alzey, has been one of the style-defining addresses in Rheinhessen for years. The Wagner-Stempel family manages the steep slopes around the village, where red porphyry and clay slate force the vines to grow deep roots. The Heerkretz is the centerpiece: a monopoly site with a unique selling point in the region.
In the glass, a Riesling appears that carries power and tension in equal measure. Aromas of yellow peach, mirabelle, and quince meet herbal spice and a distinct mineral undertone – almost salty, with a hint of flint in the finish. Voluminous on the palate, but not heavy: the lively acid structure keeps everything in balance, the finish is long and animating.
- Temperature: 12–14 °C
- Food: Sweetbreads, zander on beurre blanc, ripe Gruyère, or pasta with truffle
