Sessantuno (Sexaginta Unus) Primitivo di Manduria

Sessantuno — the name represents 61: the founding year of Conte di Campiano. This Primitivo di Manduria comes from Apulia's hot south, where the grape variety develops its full potential on deep red clay soils.

Conte di Campiano has been cultivating vineyards in the Manduria DOC, one of Italy's most traditional red wine regions, since 1961. The region is known for its fully ripe, full-bodied Primitivo wines, which acquire their characteristic density from the Mediterranean heat and poor soils.

In the glass, it shines a deep ruby red. The nose reveals ripe plum, dark cherry, and a hint of cinnamon—typical of late-ripening Primitivo from this climate zone. On the palate, vanilla emerges, supported by mild, rounded tannins without any harsh edges. The finish is long and warm, with a soft, almost velvety texture. The 2014 vintage won gold at Mundus Vini, with Luca Maroni awarding it 92 points.
