Appassimento Negroamaro Passito

The Appasimento from Conte di Campiano is made from 100% Negroamaro Passito grapes. The grapes are dried on the vines for three weeks before being hand-harvested at the end of September/beginning of October. Maceration on the skins follows to extract the color and capture the complex aromas. In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant ruby-red color with orange hues. The nose offers intense and complex aromas with notes of ripe fruit and herbs. On the palate, the wine has well-balanced, delicate tannins and a light almond flavor on the finish. This wine is wonderful with spicy pasta dishes, red meat, or aged cheeses.

Long ago, a count from a distant land rode his fine steed through the Val Tramigna valley and climbed to the plateau of Mount Crocetta. There, he sat on a stone to rest and took in the beautiful landscape below. Daylight caressed the hills, illuminating the silhouette of a castle, the steep roofs of the small, dark houses, the white paths, and the fertile farmland, while a gentle breeze rustled across the still sky. The landscape, the faint scent of must reaching his nose, and the tranquility he felt told him to make this his home. And so it was that from that day forward, the local people called him Count of Campiano...
