Saint-Joseph Cru Sainte-Epine AC 0.75L
The Saint-Joseph Cru Sainte-Épine from Delas Frères is not an entry-level wine, but a single-vineyard selection that the house only bottles in truly good years — a clear statement about the ambition behind it.
Delas Frères is one of the most traditional wineries in the Northern Rhône. The grapes for this wine come from a south-facing slope in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, one of the most distinctive sub-areas of the Saint-Joseph appellation. 100% Syrah, deliberately produced in small batches. Granite and gneiss characterize the soils of this hillside vineyard—giving the Syrah its typical spiciness and structure.
In the glass, it displays a dark ruby red color. The nose offers dark blackberry and black olive, along with violets and a hint of black pepper—the classic aroma profile of a Northern Rhône Syrah. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with firmly integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with a subtle meaty note.
Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with braised lamb loin, wild boar, or a robust Tomme from the Auvergne. If opened now, decanting is recommended—or wait another two to four years.
