Russiz Superiore Riserva degli Orzoni Rosso Collio DOC

Russiz Superiore Riserva degli Orzoni Rosso Collio DOC
Two years in barrique, twelve months bottle aging — the Riserva degli Orzoni from Russiz Superiore is not a wine for a quick evening, but one that takes time seriously.
The Russiz Superiore winery is one of the most reliable producers in the Collio DOC , the hilly border region between Friuli and Slovenia known for its mineral-rich sandstone and marl (Ponca) soils. The Riserva degli Orzoni is the estate's red wine—a blend that demonstrates the region's potential with red grape varieties.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry , accompanied by a distinct hint of cedar and dried herbs—a result of long oak aging. On the palate, it is present but not heavy: firm tannins, good acidity, and a long, balsamic finish with hints of dark chocolate and tobacco.
- Dishes: Braised beef, venison ragù, aged Montasio or Pecorino stagionato
