Riesling Vom grauen Schiefer QbA trocken
A Riesling that doesn't immediately reveal its true character – and that's precisely what makes it interesting. Clemens Busch's Vom grauen Schiefer needs some time in the glass before it reveals its mineral depth.
The Clemens Busch winery is one of the most renowned estates on the Moselle. The steep slopes around Pünderich are characterized by grey Devonian slate – a soil type that imparts to Rieslings this characteristic, cool-salty minerality, which is clearly evident in the grey slate .
Initially restrained on the nose: licorice, stone fruit, a hint of spice. The true character unfolds on the palate – a compact minerality that pushes the fruit (apricot, mirabelle plum, a subtle apple note) into the background without suppressing it. The body is both juicy and powerful, the acidity is ripe and well-integrated, and the finish is long and linear.
