Riesling Annaberg GG Rings 1.5l
The Annaberg vineyard is one of the great sites of the Palatinate — and the Rings winery from Freinsheim is among the producers who justify this reputation year after year. The 1.5-liter magnum gives the wine additional time: slower oxygen exchange, longer aging potential.
Brothers Andreas and Steffen Rings cultivate the Annaberg vineyard on sandstone-rich, chalky soil. The cool microclimate of the wooded location ensures slow grape ripening and a pronounced acidity. In the vineyard, they use green manure of buckwheat, clover, and radish, as well as horse manure instead of artificial fertilizers—the soil remains vibrant, and the roots grow deep.
After hand-harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, and fermentation takes place with natural yeasts. Ten months of lees aging in semi-finished barrels and stainless steel tanks develop texture without overpowering the fruit. In the glass, the Riesling displays aromas of white peach, citrus peel, and fine limestone. The acidity is precise, and the finish is long and salty-mineral.
