Pitío de Haras de Pirque

Pitío de Haras de Pirque is the everyday entry point into the range of one of Chile's most famous wineries – uncomplicated, with genuine Maipo character in the glass.

Haras de Pirque is located in the Maipo Valley , south of Santiago, at an altitude of approximately 700 meters. Its loamy, gravelly, well-drained soils provide classic terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate was founded in the 1990s, and its name reflects the farm's stud farm tradition ("Haras" = horse breeding). The Pitío – named after a Chilean woodpecker – represents the estate's down-to-earth approach.

Blackberry and black cherry dominate the glass, complemented by a hint of cedar and mild roasted aromas. The tannins are soft and integrated, the acidity moderate. Medium-long finish with pepper and dark cocoa. Medium-bodied, pleasant texture, ready to drink now.

  • Grilled beef or lamb chops
  • Pasta with tomato and minced meat sauce
  • Spicy mountain cheese or Manchego

Haras de Pirque

Haras de Pirque – a winery and horse farm in the heart of the Maipo Valley. In 1991, Eduardo Matte acquired the property and opened it as a winery. It comprises 600 hectares of land, 120 of which are vineyards. The main building, shaped like a horseshoe, is a striking landmark. Today, the estate is 50 percent owned by the Marchesi Antinori family from Tuscany. Together, they produce wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carmenère, and other grape varieties. The Pirque subregion is considered one of Chile's best wine-growing areas worldwide, especially for red wines. In 2004, their first joint project debuted: Albis. Maipo Valley, Tuscan influence – a fascinating combination.
