Haras de Pirque Reserva de Propiedad

A Chilean red wine from the Haras de Pirque winery, located in the Maipo Valley at the foot of the Andes — one of the classic red wine regions of South America, known for its temperature differences between day and night and well-drained soils.

The grapes for this Reserva de Propiedad come from small, single parcels, which were fermented separately. Regular pump-overs during maceration aim to produce soft, fine-grained tannins. Malolactic fermentation took place in wooden barrels, followed by aging in French barriques—a process that adds texture without masking the fruit.

Deep ruby red in the glass. On the nose, red cassis, blackberry, and a subtle hint of tobacco. Juicy on the palate, with mint and herbs in the background that lend the wine a fresh spiciness. The tannins are soft, the finish balanced and lingering.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with grilled lamb loin, herb-crusted beef fillet, or a mature Manchego cheese. Also a great, uncomplicated accompaniment to a dinner with friends.

Haras de Pirque

Haras de Pirque – a winery and horse farm in the heart of the Maipo Valley. In 1991, Eduardo Matte acquired the property and opened it as a winery. It comprises 600 hectares of land, 120 of which are vineyards. The main building, shaped like a horseshoe, is a striking landmark. Today, the estate is 50 percent owned by the Marchesi Antinori family from Tuscany. Together, they produce wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carmenère, and other grape varieties. The Pirque subregion is considered one of Chile's best wine-growing areas worldwide, especially for red wines. In 2004, their first joint project debuted: Albis. Maipo Valley, Tuscan influence – a fascinating combination.
