Pfeddersheimer Grauburgunder "vom Löß" Qualitätswein trocken

A Pinot Gris with substance: The “vom Löß” from Rheinhessen shows what loess soil and artisanal vinification can bring out of this grape variety – not a pleasing everyday wine, but a characterful white wine with depth.

The Pfannebecker winery in Pfeddersheim has been cultivating vineyards in the Rheinhessen hills for generations. The loess soils around Pfeddersheim are known for their water retention capacity and give the wines an earthy, mineral base note as well as a full body.

In the glass, the wine initially appears closed – it needs time and air. After opening, aromas of thick-skinned apple, dried lemon peel, and herbal spice develop, along with a hint of wood spice and fresh leaves. On the palate, power and richness combine: a firm body, invigorating freshness, velvety tannins, and a subtle extract sweetness in the background. The finish is compact with wood spice and ripe apple.

Recommendation: Decant at least 30 minutes before drinking. Pairs well with veal schnitzel with herb butter, mushroom risotto, or strong hard cheese. Serving temperature 12–14 °C.
