Sankt Georgenberg Qualitätswein trocken "Maximus"
The Maximus grape variety from Pfannebecker grows on the Sankt Georgenberg – a gently south-facing slope in Rheinhessen, which is cooled by the wind even on hot summer days. The deep loess-loam soils retain water and slow down ripening, giving the fruit time to develop complexity.
In the cellar, unwavering patience prevails: 18 months of aging in predominantly new French oak barriques, followed by at least three years of bottle maturation before a bottle leaves the winery. This extended aging process softens the tannins and gives the wine its characteristic drinkability.
On the nose, roasted almonds with a praline note, ripe Morello cherries and fresh red berries, underpinned by cold smoke and toasty notes. On the palate, firm and powerful, with a spicy-sweet fruit concentration and a long, structured finish. Serving temperature 16–18 °C.
Goes well with braised leg of lamb, wild boar loin with mushrooms or mature hard cheeses such as Comté or Aged Gouda.
