Markus Schneider Chardonnay Johanniskreuz
The Markus Schneider Chardonnay Johanniskreuz takes its name from the village of Johanneskreuz in the Palatinate Forest, which is generally considered one of the forest's origins. There, particularly old oak trees grow, some of which likely existed as far back as Napoleon's time and are ideally suited for making wine barrels. The Markus Schneider Chardonnay Johanniskreuz is aged in such barrels, made from old Palatinate oak. The wine displays a refined yellow-green color and a diverse array of aromas. The spectrum ranges from citrus fruits, almond, and apple to vanilla, roasted notes, and pineapple. On the palate, it exhibits a beautiful richness, along with abundant fruit and finesse. This wine is a masterpiece from Markus Schneider!

Since 1994, Markus Schneider from Ellerstadt in the Palatinate region has built a winery that does many things differently from its colleagues: no vineyard designations, no quality labels, but instead modern branded wines with an international mix of grape varieties and an unmistakable character. On approximately 92 hectares, he produces concentrated, fruit-forward wines characterized by late harvesting, yield reduction, and meticulous cellar techniques. The avoidance of herbicides, insecticides, and artificial fertilizers, as well as the FAIR'N GREEN certification, demonstrates that Schneider considers quality and responsibility together. From a small barn on the family farm, a business with an annual production of around 800,000 bottles has emerged—and one of the most distinctive success stories in the German wine scene.
