Margaux AOP, 3ème Cru Classé

Margaux AOP, 3ème Cru Classé
A classic Margaux with the combination of structure and elegance typical of this appellation — velvety tannins that still have backbone.
Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry has belonged to the Zuger family since 1955 and is one of the most reliable names in the Médoc. The winery is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, on gravelly soils that store heat and give the vines natural stress — a decisive factor for concentrated, age-worthy wines. As a 3ème Cru Classé from the famous 1855 classification, Malescot stands for artisanal consistency across generations.
In the glass, the 2021 glows in deep ruby red. On the nose, cassis, ripe black cherry, and a hint of cedarwood — followed by subtle vanilla from the barrique aging. On the palate, it shows a fine tannin structure, which in 2021 — a cool, precise vintage in the Médoc — seems particularly straightforward. The finish is long, with a hint of graphite and dark cocoa.
Best with some air in the decanter. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Pairs with rack of lamb with herb crust, aged Mimolette, or a classic Bœuf bourguignon.
