Margaux AOP, 3ème Cru Classé

Margaux AOP, 3ème Cru Classé
A classic Margaux with the typical combination of structure and elegance of this appellation — velvety tannins that still have backbone.
Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry has been owned by the Zuger family since 1955 and is one of the most trusted names in the Médoc. The estate lies in the heart of the Margaux appellation, on gravelly soils that retain heat and provide the vines with natural stress—a crucial factor for concentrated, age-worthy wines. As a 3ème Cru Classé from the renowned 1855 classification, Malescot represents a commitment to artisanal craftsmanship passed down through generations.
In the glass, the 2021 vintage shines a deep ruby red. The nose offers aromas of cassis, ripe black cherry, and a hint of cedar, followed by subtle vanilla from the oak barrel aging. On the palate, a fine tannin structure emerges, which, in 2021—a cool, precise vintage in the Médoc—appears particularly linear. The finish is long, with a touch of graphite and dark cocoa.
Drinking window: 2027–2038, best enjoyed with a little aeration in a decanter. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Pairs well with herb-crusted rack of lamb, aged Mimolette, or a classic beef bourguignon.
