LAN Rioja Gran Reserva DOCa
The LAN Gran Reserva consists of 80% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo, and 10% Garnacha. The grapes are carefully selected from the best grapes of 20 to 25-year-old vines. The wine is aged for 2 years in French and American oak as well as another 3 years in the bottle before it is allowed to be sold.
LAN Gran Reserva shows a bright cherry-red color with slight orange tones. The nose is expressive with aromas of vanilla, cedar, and red fruits. Due to the long maturation period, the wine is already very soft and elegant. In the finish, it is very long and of great complexity.

How does the LAN Gran Reserva 2017 taste?
Cherry-red color with slight orange tones, vanilla, cedar, and red fruits on the nose. Due to two years of oak aging and three more years in the bottle, it is soft and elegant with a long, complex finish.
Is the LAN Gran Reserva dry?
Yes, it is vinified dry. The long maturation phases smooth out the tannins, so it still seems velvety and round — not a hint of residual sugar.
What is the best food pairing for the wine?
It handles hearty dishes easily: leg of lamb, roast game, braised beef cheek, or a good steak. It also makes a good figure with grilled veal or a spicy hard cheese.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Between 16 and 18 °C — i.e., slightly cooler than room temperature. If you take the bottle from a warm room, put it in the fridge for 20 minutes.
How do I store an opened bottle?
Sealed and stored cool, the wine keeps well for two to three days after opening. A vacuum seal extends this somewhat — the fruit then remains fresh for longer.
What is behind the designation Gran Reserva?
Gran Reserva is the highest maturation category of the DOCa Rioja: at least five years of aging, two of which in wood and three in the bottle. Bodegas LAN adheres exactly to this requirement — hence the comparatively soft, integrated character.
