Bodegas LAN was founded in 1972. At that time, they considered using the first three letters of the provinces of Logroño, Alava, and Navarra as the foundation for an outstanding winery. Logroño is now the capital of the La Rioja province. Today, LAN stands for tradition, reputation, and glorious wines.
The winery is located in the town of Fuenmayor, west of Logroño. Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Mazuelo are mainly grown in the vineyards. From these, three "base wines" are created: a Crianza, a Reserva, and a Gran Reserva. In addition, there is the "Viña Lanciano" vineyard. A single vineyard that fits beautifully into a meander of the Ebro River. Within this vineyard, there is also a special site called "Pago El Rincón". Strictly selected old vines from both areas are used for the 3 top wines: the Viña Lanciano Reserva, the Culmen, and the LAN Edición Limitada.
The Lan Rioja Crianza is vinified entirely from the Tempranillo grape and matures for 12 months in barrels of American and French oak and another year in the bottle.
Fruity bouquet with an elegant note of wood. On the palate, the LAN Crianza is harmonious and balanced with sweet and elegant tannins and is pleasing, as it is remarkably powerful and long for a Crianza wine.

How does the LAN Rioja Crianza 2021 taste?
Ripe red fruit, a subtle wood note from 12 months in American and French oak — and yet it remains accessible: the tannins are soft and round, the finish unusually long and powerful for a Crianza.
Is the LAN Crianza dry?
Yes, completely dry. The fruitiness comes from the ripe Tempranillo, not from residual sugar — on the palate, it feels harmonious without becoming sweet.
What does the LAN Crianza pair best with?
It is widely applicable: lamb, game, braised veal, or grilled meat work well. It also cuts a fine figure with tapas, Manchego, Serrano, or chorizo — classic Spanish table accompaniment.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Best between 16 and 18 °C. If it is too warm, it loses freshness and structure; if it is too cold, the tannins feel harder than they are. Taking it out of the cellar shortly before pouring is enough.
How long can I store the LAN Crianza?
It has already had a year of bottle aging and is ready to drink. With its weight and round tannins, it will easily last another three to five years — but it doesn't have to wait.
What distinguishes a Crianza from a Reserva or Gran Reserva at LAN?
The Crianza is the most accessible of the three: less aging time, closer to the fruit, drinkable earlier. Reserva and Gran Reserva come from longer-aged selections and are designed for more storage time.
