Kirchenstück Riesling G.C. QW Pfalz 0.75L

The Kirchenstück in Forst an der Weinstraße is considered one of the best Riesling sites in all of Germany — a basalt soil that stores heat while simultaneously providing that concise minerality that fundamentally shapes this wine. Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf, a fixture in the Palatinate for generations and biodynamically farmed, vinifies this Grand Cru with the ambition of letting the terroir speak — not the cellar technology.

In the glass, the Riesling shows a dense, multi-layered structure: ripe yellow citrus fruit, white peach, and a hint of dried herbs, underpinned by a salty, almost stony minerality. The acidity is present but integrated — not a sharp cut, but a long-lasting tension that keeps the palate awake. The finish is dry, long, and marked by a fine bitter note, which is typical for great Palatinate Rieslings from basalt soils.

Best served at 10–12 °C — with turbot with beurre blanc, lobster, scallops, or a mature Comté. Those drinking it pure should give it some time in the glass.
