Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 0.375L

Dry Riesling from the Karthäuserhofberg, one of the most famous vineyards of the Ruwer near Trier. As a Grosses Gewächs in a half-bottle (0.375 l), it is ideal if you want to open a high-quality glass for two.

The Karthäuserhof in Eitelsbach looks back on a long history: Carthusian monks cultivated the slope as early as the 14th century, and the estate has been in family hands since 1811. The Karthäuserhofberg is owned solely by the winery (monopole vineyard). The bottles are recognizable by their neck label; traditionally, there is no label on the body.

In the glass, you can expect the typical signature of the Ruwer: citrus fruits and green apple, plus stone fruit and a slate-spicy, mineral note. The acidity is firm and invigorating, the wine is dry through and through, and the finish is salty-mineral and long.

Pour it at 8–10 °C in a large white wine glass. It pairs well with fried trout, sweetbreads, sushi, or mild fresh goat cheese.
