Jungano Aglianico

Aglianico from the heart of the Cilento — powerful, but with a structure that shows finesse. The Jungano is a red wine that brings the rugged beauty of Campania directly into the glass.

Azienda Agricola San Salvatore is located in Giungano, a small village in the Cilento, the southern tip of the province of Salerno. The winery cultivates its vineyards in the nature reserve of the Cilento National Park — one of the few regions in Italy where Aglianico is still grown as originally as it is here. The Jungano bears the name of its home village and reflects the terroir of this wild hilly landscape.

After controlled fermentation, the wine matures for a year in a combination of wooden and steel tanks — an approach that preserves the fruit while building some structure. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red. On the nose, sour cherry and dark blackberry, underlaid by violets and a hint of allspice. On the palate, powerful and full-bodied, with tannins that are present but do not appear edgy — long, spicy finish.
