I Gelsi Bianco

Straw yellow with a greenish shimmer — Statti's I Gelsi Bianco is an uncomplicated white wine from Calabria that brings Mediterranean lightness directly to the glass.

The Statti winery has been cultivating one of Calabria's largest family estates for generations, nestled in the heart of the Lamezia plain between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Sila Mountains. The mild Mediterranean climate and medium-heavy soils shape the style: fresh, uncomplicated, and perfect for everyday enjoyment. The grapes are gently pressed, fermentation takes place under temperature control, and aging occurs exclusively in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruitiness and freshness.

On the nose, it displays passion fruit and fresh herbs, along with a subtle Mediterranean spiciness. Light-bodied on the palate with lively acidity and a clean, short finish—not a complex wine, but an honest one.

Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with grilled fish, seafood, light pasta dishes with lemon, or as a simple aperitif in summer.

State

Calabria – “Enotria Tellus,” land of wine. Wine has been cultivated here for millennia, and over two thousand years ago the Greeks brought indigenous grape varieties with them. Brothers Antonio and Alberto Statti have dedicated themselves to reviving this tradition. Their goal: to offer a modern interpretation of Calabria and to raise international awareness of the importance of these ancient grape varieties. A challenge, as Calabrian wines are virtually unknown today. The Stattis want to restore the excellent reputation they enjoyed in antiquity. A mission with a distinct flavor.
